Ballet

Ballet is the foundation for all other styles.  The classical ballet artform builds both the technique and artistry of any dancer.  Students gain an understanding of the classical ballet vocabulary as technical progression is made throughout the year.  

Students should arrive in tights (pink, tan, or skin tone) and a black leotard. Black shorts or skirts optional.   Students should wear ballet shoes or half soles.

Leaps & Turns

Students are pushed to refine the technical and performance quality of intermediate/advanced ballet steps with a strong emphasis on allegro and pirouette variations.  

Prerequisite: Ballet.

Students should arrive in tights (pink, tan, or skin tone) and a black leotard. Black shorts or skirts optional.   Students should wear ballet shoes or half soles.

Acro

Acro classes are a combination of dance and gymnastics.  All activities are designed to increase strength, flexibility, and agility.  Classes will incorporate conditioning, limbering, and tumbling.  As students progress in their strength and flexibility, contortion work will be introduced.

Students should arrive in a leotard and shorts.  Tights are optional.  Students will take class barefoot.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a fun and  energetic class set to modern but appropriate music.  Classes are designed to expose students to multiple styles of hip hop and to also educate them on the culture behind the moves.  Students will learn timing and precision as well as what it means to bring their own style to everything they do.  In the higher levels of training we will bring in  guest teachers to help expose them to different styles and methods of training.  

Students should arrive in comfortable athletic clothing they can move in.  Personal style is encouraged.  Students should wear clean sneakers into class.  No outside sneakers, no jeans.

Jazz

Jazz combines the techniques of ballet and modern dance with current popular forms of dance.  Exercises to increase strength, flexibility, and rhythm will be done across the floor.  Choreography  will encourage self expression and physical challenges. 

Students should arrive in comfortable athletic wear and black slip on jazz shoes.  No loose clothing, no jeans.

Tap

Tap focuses on rhythm and patterns through footwork.  Exercises in tap focus on timing and coordination, precision and producing clear sounds.  The speed of the movements increase and become more complex as the students' skill level  progresses.

Students should arrive in comfortable athletic wear and black tap shoes.  No loose clothing, no jeans.

Lyrical

Lyrical combines the techniques of classical ballet and modern dance.  Classes will include warm ups and across the floor progressions intended to increase strength, flexibility, and body connectivity.  Students will be  introduced to combinations to lyrically expressive songs.  Students will focus on personal style and emotional expression. 

Students should arrive in tights (pink, tan, or skin tone) and a leotard. Shorts/skirts optional.   Students should wear ballet shoes or half soles.

Contemporary

Contemporary is a blend of creative movement and technique with foundations in ballet and jazz.  Exercises across the floor focus on increasing strength and flexibility while connecting various movements.  Floorwork and combinations will be introduced and freestyle movement will be encouraged.  

Students should arrive in tights (pink, tan, or skin tone) and a leotard. Shorts/skirts optional.   Students should wear ballet shoes or half soles.

Breakdancing

Breakdancing is an athletic form of dance where students will learn to connect intricate movements and skills.  Students will learn basic foundations of the dance including Toprock, Footwork, Freezes and Powermoves as well as some basic Hip Hop history. Gaining discipline is also a goal for students taking the class. 

Students should arrive in comfortable athletic clothing they can move in.  Students should wear clean sneakers into class.  No outside sneakers, no jeans.

Creative Movement

Dancers will discover new ways to move their bodies by combining improvisation based exercises with musical rhythms and patterns. Along with movement this class introduces them to studio etiquette and following instructions. 

Students should arrive in ballet shoes and a leotard.  Tights, shorts, and skirts are optional.
