Meet your Instructors
Meagan Shoenfelt
Meagan grew up competing in dance and gymnastics. She danced her way through college and graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with a BA in Psychology. After college Meagan travelled and competed with the World Champion Hip Hop Team Street Elite. In that time she also began her teaching career. She quickly fell in love with the opportunity to educate the next generation. She has been teaching kids ages 2 to 18 for over 15 years in acro, hip hop, modern, lyrical, ballet, and jazz. She also taught at the college level at Eastern Connecticut State University. Meagan is certified through Acrobatic Arts and passionate about continuing education to provide up to date training for her students.
Jessie Robie
Jessie Robie has been an upcoming dancer for 16 years. Jessie started dance at the age of 4 and started teaching at the age of 16. She is trained in all styles including ballet, jazz, modern, and hip hop. She specializes mainly in contemporary and hip hop street styles. She continues to grow and expand her craft through studying different genres of dance and continuing to take classes all over the country. Jessie has competed and performed in various shows and dance competitions. She was part of Breakdancing Shakespere at the Hartford Stage. She also competes with Kalligraphy, a crew based out of Hartford. Their routine won second place at World of Dance Boston in 2017 and went on to compete at the World of Dance Championships in California. In 2021 they competed in a routine which took first place at the Battlefest ‘Victory’ dance competition in Atlanta. Jessie is excited to use the knowledge that she has attained through her experiences while working with her students at DDC.
Kyra Rosenberg
Kyra began her dance career competing in a variety of styles before shifting her focus to ballet. She attended Bossov Ballet Theater where she studied the Russian Ballet Technique before spending one year at George Brown College in Toronto, Canada. There she expanded her training under a ballet focus in the Dance Performance Program while also taking courses in Modern dance and pedagogy. Upon returning to Connecticut, Kyra was offered a position with Ballet Hartford, a local professional Ballet Company. She has spent 2 seasons with Ballet Hartford performing classical pieces as well as a variety of neoclassical works from local choreographers and Master teachers. Kyra’s passion for dance carries with her in her teaching practices as shares her training with up-and-coming dancers.
Nicole Wright
Nicole began dancing at the age of three. She continued to dance throughout college and still dances today as an adult. Over the years she has trained at multiple studios with different instructors and choreographers to help expand her dance experience. Nicole has danced with Miss Jo-Ann Ferrero, Lorna Mills, The Dance Center, Miss Bonnie Hayes, Lynn Agnew, Stage Left Dance Center, and a few others. She is experienced in many styles of dance, but tap has always been her favorite. She enjoys teaching tappers new skills, timing, and rhythm to help them discover what amazing sounds can be created with their feet. Nicole has two daughters of her own at the studio and is very happy to be a part of their training at Duggan’s Dance Center. Teaching and helping the next generation of dancers learn and grow is an incredible opportunity, and Nicole is super excited to be a part of it!
Emma Brockett
Emma has been dancing since the age of 7, training at a local studio in various styles including jazz, tap, ballet , lyrical, modern and contemporary and started dancing competitively when she was 13. Emma discovered a strong passion for ballet early on in her teens and was accepted into the Joffery summer program at age 16, and a year later at 17 she was accepted into the trainee program at New England Ballet Theatre in Connecticut under the direction of Victoria Manning. Post-High School, she went on to join New England Ballet Theatre professional company as a Demi-Apprentice. With NEBT she got to dance in shows like “Cinderella” and “Fantastic Toyshop,” choreographed by Rachael Gnatowski, and guest pieces such as “Painted Lady” choreographed by Jacob Taylor, and has performed in NYC at the Alvin Ailey Theatre in Gnatowski’s piece “B-side” and understudied for Saki Morimoto’s piece “Focus Point.” Emma began teaching and choreographing at age 15, and has continued teaching ballet classes and privates at both competition schools and New England Ballet theater's school program. She loves to work with kids and watch them grow as dancers each year and wants to continue teaching in her future and leading the next generation to greatness and is looking forward to continuing her dance career.
Henry Olivo
Henry has been Breakdancing for 17 years and has been teaching Breakdancing for 10 years now. He is the Head Coach of the Uconn Breakdancing Club and is a member of Connecticut’s best Breakdance crew United OutKast, as well as the founder of his own group DefConn. Actively training and competing in the tri-state area Henry brings everything he learns back home to pass on to the next generation of Connecticut dancers.
